The Blue Mountains
Australia Home
We hiked a few trails in the Blue Mountains. The first day, we just did the Prince of Wales Cliff Walk, exlpored the area and enjoyed a spectacular sunset. Our B&B was across from the Three Sisters , an Aboriginal historic site. The legend says a wizard turned three sisters into stone figures to protect them, but died before he could turn them back into girls, and they forever sit waiting for him. The Sisters are over 900m (1000ft) high, which gives you an idea of the scale of the Jamison Valley. On the second day, we rode a few miles to hike the Dardenelles Pass and Great Stair Walk. We and rode 3k to walk about 12k that day thru the Rain Forest The Giant Stair has over 900 steps into the floor of the valley, winding back and forth across the cliff side. Good thing we started at the top and went down! After we walked back across the valley, we took a restored mine car back up to the top.
